I have been dealing with the anal fissures starting from year 2000. This year, I experienced repeated episodes in the past couple of months. Thankfully they were healed using conservative methods. I was very regular and disciplined with the sitz bath. I think they help immensely. This time, an Ayurvedic doctor recommended that I add an Ayurvedic medication called panchavalkala kwatha to the water in the sitz bath.
Even though I cannot accurately establish the efficacy of this medication, the fact that I seem to have recovered much faster than as compared to earlier episodes even though this time I was suffering from additional symptoms of fibromyalgia, it does seem that this medication help speed up the healing.
There are some research articles which seem to suggest that this does help in healing so I would recommend considering this as a part of conservative therapy for healing anal fissure.
